Title: Would It Matter? Protein Would it matter if protein in the form of food is taken all at once, i.e. at one big meal or would it be more effecient if it is taken in portions throughout the day? If you eat protein than you need, would it be stored in the form of fat? If so, would it be used the next day when needed? If you sleep very little, or not at all, would your muscles still repair themselves? or would repair be inhibited by loss of sleep? I know there are many questions here. If you can answer even one, that would be very helpful. Thank you. Name: KevST Date: Aug. 23rd, 2001 Title: Re: Would It Matter? Protein "Would it matter if protein in the form of food is taken all at once, i.e. at one big meal or would it be more effecient if it is taken in portions throughout the day? " **Yes. Gradual intake of protein is recommended. Having large in-frequent meals may provide gradual intake, but it depends. "If you eat protein than you need, would it be stored in the form of fat? If repair and energy needs are meet, and glycogen stores are full, protein will be stored as fat. Once protein is converted to glucose via glucogenesis (sp?) you cannot reverse the reaction. "If you sleep very little, or not at all, would your muscles still repair themselves? " **Yes they would repair albeit slower than if you were sleeping, but keep in mind hormones relating to repair and growth are released after the first couple hours of sleep.
