Title: A Good Warmup? I Before I do my weights I like to Do a warmup as do most people. But my warmup is 5 mins of walking on the treadmil then into 15 mins of running @ 9.5 MPH. Now is that 15 min warmup considered cardio? Or can I stick to it, being I do not want to give up the running. I only asked if it was considered cardio b/c a lot of people consider 30 mins as Cardio. But is 15 mins a good warmup? I really do not want to give up the running. Ok Let me know, I appreciate any info anyone can give me. My opinion is that you only need about 10 minutes at a moderate pace to "warm up." Just enough to work up a light sweat. Remember, the purpose of the warm up is to get the blood flowing. You are certainly doing that, but you might not need quite so much. Remember, you're the best person to gauge it. If you're winded or at all fatigued after the warm-up, then it's too much. If you're not winded or fatigued at the end of the twenty minutes, and you don't feel it hinders your lifting, then no reason to quit (I'm assuming lifting is your priority). It might be a little more than the norm, but if it works for you keep it up. Good luck.
