Title: Health 101 ok-- can we start with extremely basic stuff? i have trouble with some of the terms that come with fitness instructions.... what are some examples of cardio exercises? are these walking/running/swimming?? and they are recommended about 3-4 times a week for around 40 minutes? isn't that the same as aerobic exercise? ok-- and strength training... what are some examples of that? just lifting weights, doing sit-ups, etc?? and how often should these be done (just to look good, not body-build or something)? as you can see-- i am completely confused and need some help! As far as strength training. These are any exercises that you do which use "resistance". You must use resistance to build muscle. Don't worry about "bulking up" it won't happen. Just use light weight and high reps. Usually the 15-25 rep range is good to tone your body. Heard it a million times. Like you are suddendly going to gain 50 lbs if you pick up anything heavier than a 10 lb dumbell. The truth is, there's only one way to tone a muscle: build a bigger muscle and lose your bodyfat!
