If you are wanting to lose weight, start cutting out simple sugars and high glycemic foods, like white bread, white rice, etc. Sugar spikes your insulin levels which causes your body to store fat, (even if that sugar is low fat or fat free) So anytime you drink that slim fast shake, your insulin levels go up and your body will store fat, just eat a healthy low fat diet and eat foods high in fiber and low glycemic foods. 100% Whole wheat breads only brown rice, chicken/fish, etc...
