Title: HELP!!! Do I Have An EATING DISORDER All I ever think about is losing weight...I plan my meals the night before, sometimes an entire week before! If someone asks me out to lunch/dinner I panic because I don't know the exact caloric value of food. If I can't exercise for a certain amount of time, I panic. I have lost about 18lbs and I want to lose 20 more. Also, if I see overweight people I can't stop thinking about a diet/exercise plan that is right for them. I also can barely have a conversation without mentioning weight/dieting/exercise. Is this normal? abnormal? crazy? Does anyone else feel like this??? Just don't think about it and you'll probably save yourself alot of worrying over it. Name: Adrien Date: Jun. 19th, 2001 Title: Re: HELP!!! Do I Have An EATING DISORDER Hi, There is a fine line between being nutrition and fitness conscious and having an obsession over these topics. I'm afraid I would disagree with Adrien and say you are fixating to a point where it is interfering with your life. While it may be important to have a sense of what you are eating when you are at a restaraunt, does it need to be to the exact calorie? If you can estimate it to a couple of hundred calories is that sufficient? A general sense is often enough. Planning your meals out ahead of time is not a bad thing. But how much time to you spend planning it out? And if you need to vary that plan later on do you get all out of kilter? The key question is, has it reached a point where your focus on nutrition is interfering with your happiness? If you are happy figuring this stuff out, then there isn't much of a problem. If it is causing you unhappiness, then you may want to talk to someone to get these feelings in order. It's not the worst problem to have, but it's also good you are aware of it. Whatever happens, be happy doing it! Steve Name: steve Date: Jun. 20th, 2001 Title: Re: HELP!!! I am happy about nutrition and health, but I know I overdo it sometimes and I do get a little "off kilter" if someone asks me to dinner or whatever, but as much as I think it's bad to be obsessive, I think it's good too because this is the drive that pushes you to succeed and keep striving to your goal. You know where to draw the line and see what behaviors are unhealthy.
