Title: Please Help Straighten Out The Calorie Talk!!!

I don't want to be bias, but Adrien, I like your responses to everyones questions and back in May someone asked a question about calorie intake. I read in Fitness magizine in order to maintain ones weight they should consume about 16-17 cal/lb, and to lose weight, one should consume 13-14 cal/lb. If this were true, and since i'm trying to drop 20 lbs at 180lbs, I should consume roughly 2300 calories? This sounds high. I don't want to consume too much and gain weight, but I also don't want to deprive my body. I usually take in about 1500 calories. Is this enough? HELP PLEASE because I know to lose weight, you need to burn calories (along with the weight lifting), but my weight is not going anywhere and I would think that eating 1500 is would drop lbs. (Oh and of that 1500 cal, I do eat fruits/veg, meats, cheeses, breads, etc. -I eat good). CONFUSED.

I wish I could answer your question exactly... but I can't quite. I'm by far no expert, actually I'm 13 years old, and I've been studying nutrition for quite a while...

I've heard you should consume ATLEAST 1200 Calories per day... and 2300 does seem very high for losing weight. What I'm doing, is 6 meals a day, and I try to keep every meal around or under 300 Calories. That's about 1800 Calories per day... from what I know of, you should try 1600-1800 Calories per day. This is a healthy amount, and still low enough to lose weight quickly... you might want to check in with a personal trainer or someone who knows more on the topic of Calories... but from what I do know, 1600-1800 would be good.

Title: Thanks Adrien-But One More Thing

Thank you Adrien!! It makes sense what you are talking about. One more thing, before I go to bed or for snacks, all I like to eat is fruit (all kinds), but of course, I get bloated and gassy, which is very annoying. Can you give me some advice as to how to handle this-all I like to eat is fruit and usually veggies for snack, which I think is good, but this is a very discouraging bodily function which bothers me and makes me want to avoid fruit. HELP AGAIN PLEASE! thanks in advance.

Well... I don't think there's anything you can really do about that, that I know of.

Try cutting back on them, but not cutting them completely.

You should not consume anything with lots of Carbos before bedtime. Carbos are stored as fat if they are consumed before you go to bed.
