Soreness is good... it means you've done a good workout.

You shouldn't exercise any muscle more than once a week. This includes your Abs. If you're working them more than once a week, that's probably why they're so sore. Working any muscle more than 1-2 times per week is counter-productive... if you are, then stop.

      Title: Strange ...

What you said is strange, because I usually worked my abs every day, and they were never sore, then I heard that didn't do anything for them, so I started doing them every other day, and on the days in between, they were sore ... I thought soreness meant that they were "healing"?

Adrien, by the way, you kick ass :)

        Hehe... thanks Shannon.
I may seem like I know alot... but I'm just a 13 year old kid who's read everyone else's posts and picked up my info from that...

The reason they were sore is probably because they were growing. For once, they actually had enough rest to heal themselves and get stronger. Remember, though, the key to a "washboard" stomach is Cardio and diet. You can have all the Ab muscles you want... but you need to lose the layer of fat that's blocking them before you'll see anything... and that's done through Cardio and Diet.

Abs are made up of a different muscle fiber, as well as your calves, than the rest of your body. This specific muscle fiber you can work out more often than the other muscles in your body. With a good diet, cardio, and abdominal exercises you can achieve a "perfect" stomach. Your abs are NOT hurting because they are growing. They are responding to stress that you have put on them, by exercising them. Adrien you do not know what you are talking about and you need to shut up.

Can you please explain how contractile muscle tissue in different areas differ in muscle fibers? You are wrong here. The composition ratio might change but they contain the exact same fibers. As Adrien said, you should not be doing abs everyday. They require rest just like any other muscle group. You should be training them like any other muscle group, doing lower sets of reps. Doing 100 crunches will not produce results anywhere near what 15 weighted crunches will do. At most I would do abs, twice a week.

Now Adrien has the right idea on most of her/his (not sure sorry) posts. Alot of myths are spread here that will cause people to overtrain or to get slower results. Adrien is not one of these people spreading myths. Training abs everyday is one of those myths. If you respond, provide some scientific reasons and please don't tell me to shut up.

              Thanks Kurt...

I may be 13, like I said... but I do know what I'm saying, for the most part. And even if I'm wrong... you could still be a bit more polite about it.
