Title: Caloric Intake? I have been working out and supplementing on and off for the past few months with little results. I am 5'5", I weigh 169 lbs and typically eat about 1200 cal/day. I was reading a fitness site online claiming that each female interested in losing fat and gaining muscle needs to consume 14 cal/ lb of body weight per day. More specifically 2.3g Carbs/lb of body weight, .8 g protein/lb and the remainder healthy fat. This system would require me to eat a whoping 2282 cal per day! The idea seems like a good one because it is personalized based on your body weight's individual needs, however, Im afraid if I try it I will blow up like a blimp.I work out heavily every day (40 min of cardio and 45 min of weights before breakfast) but have always heard that you should keep your caloric intake less than your caloric expenditure if you want to lose weight. Please help. Sincerely , Autumndawn Lee Name: Autumndawn Lee Date: May. 23rd, 2001 Title: Re: Caloric Intake? That is something I don't think I would try. I just watch calories and fat. I take in around 1500 a day. The weight is coming off. Along with exercising. You said you are working out everyday if you are exercising 7 days a week you aren't giving your body any rest. I take the weekends off from working out. You don't want to lift weights everyday. Your muscles need to rest. Not long ago I was working out like crazy and have cut back on it some and I seem to be losing more that way. not sure why though. you are right about the calorie intake I read that also. good luck! I believe the article stated that if one wanted to maintain their weight, they should consume ~16-17 cal/lb, but if that person wanted to drop some lbs, they should intake ~13 cal/lb. that would put me at 2340 calories. I freak out when I have over 1500 cal/day. Does anyone know if this is correct or not?
