Title: Carbs, Proteins, Nutrition In General

Hi,
I'm a mother of two, 34 years old, have been working out for 20 years and love it but still have not yet understood the whole puzzle to proteins and carbs as well as good nutritional eating that's quick (2 kids that I've got to run around to their various sports). Firstly, my question... is it more protein that "defines" you and how much (I'm 5'4, 135 lbs, 34 yrs and in decent shape but want definition) and secondly, how much carbs are good and what types of carbs are good choices??? It's a all such a puzzle to me... Also, there is a history of eating disorders(and not overeating, more along the lines of bulimia) that kind of comes and goes in my life... I'm constantly struggling with food ... I've been too many groups... and I've come to the conclusion that if I could learn the right way to eat along with my 3-4 times/week of working out... I should not have to worry and struggle with this ever again....Any help out there re.. good eating and the carb/protein thing would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

    Hi Denise,

I too had questions about the whole carb-protein-fat balance and my roomate gave me Dr. Sear's book called The Zone. It talks about the correct proportions of each and tells you how to calculate it specifically for your measurements. It's easy to read and understand. Hope this helps!

The Zone is a very strict and unhealthy diet that causes your body to go into starvation mode. Also, a lot of people tend to gain all their weight if not more once they get off of it. Also, if you plan to do this...you might increase your body fat % since it consists mostly of animal fat.
