Title: I Can't Stop Eating!

I have a bad problem of eating too much at one time. I sit down and have to eat the whole box of crackers or cereal. I know I could just not buy those foods but I want to be able to have them and not eat it all. I am very active- I usually run about 20 miles a week, lifts some weights and take a couple of dance classes a week. I can't seem to loose weight though because I can't eat like a normal person!! I try and drink lots of water but it doesn't seem to help the problem. I would really appreciate any suggestions.

Try having small snacks that have low cals and fat(ie. pretzels, apples). If you cook for yourself, try only cooking enough for one meal. Kinda sucks for trying to bring leftovers for lunch but you can make a whole wheat sandwhich just as easily as packing up the leftovers.

Occasionally, I have this same problem. The food you mentioned (crackers and cereal) are high carbohydrate foods. High carb foods have a problem of not really making you feel full. This means you can eat a lot and never really tell, untill you have put on the lbs. I would suggest eating more protein and and monounsaturated fat. These will leave you feeling full for a couple of hours, something cereal will never do. I am a runner also, pushing out 50+ miles a week, so I understand the need for carbs.
A reason you might be doing this binging is because your body is telling you what it needs. If your glycogen (carb) levels are low in your muscels, then that's what you will crave. Shut your body up by eating smaller meals several (4-5) times every day that are all a balanced mixture of carbs, protein, and fat. This will leave you feeling full all day long, which will mean you are a lot less likely to binge.
I hope I have helped a little, and if you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me.
