Title: DO I HAVE TO EAT SWEETS FROM TIME TO TIME? First of all congratulations for your great site! I am 16 years old and I try to eat as healthy as possible. So I have decided to completely cut down sweets. But my family says that since I am a tee, I HAVE to eat sweets from time to time. What is your opinion? Is it necessary? It's not necessary from a nutritional standpoint.. but it sure is nice to have every now and then! (Plus you may want to appease yourself and the .. while physically it may not be all that, pyschologically a treat now and then can be big.) Remember a main point of fitness is so one can enjoy life. But from a required nutritional standpoint, not needed. Hi Irene, refined sugars are needed by the body for survival. However, They do sometimes make life more enjoyable. Also, they are good for mental health. It may sound foolish but they really do. They aid in Seratonin uptake in the Brain. That is why women often crave sweets such as chocolate during PMS. Seratonin levels are often low. But don't over do it. A diet high in refined sugars is not good for you and a diet high in deprivation makes life no fun! Enjoy Life, John L. P.S. John 8:32 Name: John L.
