Title: I'm A Carbo Junkie - Help !

I'm 29 years old, 6'5" tall, and weigh 205 lbs. I am an avid runner (~35 miles per week) and play a lot of soccer. I consider myself active and I really try to watch what I eat and drink. I'm not obsessing about my weight, but I would feel better at about 190 lbs. I just can't seem to get there, no matter how much I run or use a stairmaster/elliptical trainer. Without a doubt, I am the biggest carb "fiend" that I know. I can't stay away from pretzels, crackers, pasta, rice, and bread. These type of "snacks", especially salty or spicy, are what I find myself munching on in between meals. I don't eat beef or pork, but I do occassionally enjoy chicken and turkey. I eat a large amount of canned tuna fish (in water). I know that unused carbs are converted to fat. I also know that I need to be careful to get enough protein because of the lack of red meat in my diet. Can anyone help with some suggestions for my diet to help me to lower my carb intake and still curb my hunger ? I seem to always be hungry and consequently, find myself eating pretzels or crackers, etc. to "tide me over" until my next meal. Would fruit always be a better option ? Anyone have suggestions for "protein-rich" snacks ? Thanks in advance for the help.

i have a suggestion for helping with pasta and rice. switch to brown rice and whole wheat pasta. these carbs are less easily converted to fat and are loaded with fiber! they always taste wonderful and are more filling (smaller portions). Whole wheat crackers and breads are great too. the key is to look for whole wheat - not just wheat products.
