How will I know which diet plan is right for me? Please help me! Name: Bri Date: Aug. 18th, 2000 Title: Re: How Do I Start Dieting? On my response in the exercise section of the board, I said you should go by the Food pyramid. Lots of fruits and veggies, whole grain and wheat breads, dairy, meat.. in that order. Skimp down on fat, but make sure you do get about 20-30 grams per day -- your body needs it. Also, drink 6 - 8 glasses of water per day. Not only does it help your metabolism burn fat, but it helps to keep your skin clear, and all the process in your body function better. AND, it fills you up so you don't overeat. I would suggest carrying a 20-oz. squeeze bottle around with you - that'll get you 2 1/2 cups right there. Fill it a couple times a day, and voila! If sometimes you just can't STAND to drink plain water (like me), then add a splash of juice for flavor (cranberry works great!) Dieting, although you may lose weight faster than just exercising alone, you will not only gain the weight back after you stop the diet, but you may actually gain more weight. Dieting not only screws up your metabolism, but is in most cases unhealthy for you, because your body doesn't get everything it needs. It's best to develop lifelong healthy eating habits and exercise a minimum of three times per week for atleast a half hour each session. --and it also doesn't hurt to enjoy a favorite treat every once in a while. Depriving yourself will only make you end up eating worse in the long run. Name: laurie Date: Aug. 19th, 2000 Title: Re: How Do I Start Dieting? It sound like you did get some good information on how to start. If you are like I was when I started everything seems overwhelming. I'll tell you what I did. I got this information from a friend and the help was great. Go to the slimzone at www.slimsense.com. These people are great. It is a service site so you don't have to buy anything. You can also call up and speak with a trained fitness and nutrition expert. They will personalize your diet for your goals, with back ing from one of the counrty's most respected dietitians. They will also answer any other questions you might have. Just thought I'd drop a good word. your Friend, Littlehonu Bri wrote: > I am trying to start up a diet and I have no idea where to start. who should i talk to? What do i have to take into account?
