Title: Im12 And 160 Lbs. what can i do besieds running and weight lifting to help? Name: Patrick Date: Jul. 9th, 2000 Title: Re: Im12 And 160 Lbs. Patrick, Well Patrick it's great to see that you care about how your health at such a young age. The important thing to remember is never never never deprive yourself of eating and stick to a routine for working out. As a kid I dealt with weight fluctuations throughout growing up. I eventually got so desperate to loss weight that I resorted to becoming bolemic (eating then throwing up). Until my mom got concerned and got me help. Now I am 24 and in the best shape of my life. You just need to get into a good workout routine and don't give up. Even if you don't see physicall results immediately just think of how much healthier you are inside. And remember that everything takes time. With some patience you can reach your goals. Which by the way you should set for yourself. And make sure that they are reasonable goals. Instead of one long term goal set a few short term goals. Then reward yourself when you reach your goal. That way you always have something to work for and it doesn't seem so far away. Best of luck. Hi there Patrick, well I also am glad to hear that you are concerned abou your health. I got some good news for you. First, You've got plenty of time to change your body. Second your at the perfect age for it!! The best way for you to really see some dramatic changes in your life is your Diet. No, I'm not using the word diet in a deprivation sense but a nutritional sense. At your age you need to eat a balanced diet to ensure your body is properly fueled. Now that means you need to eat. 1. Proteins- Meats, Dairy, Fish, etc. 2. Carbohydrates- Veggies, fruits, Breads. 3. Fats- Cheeses, Nuts, Oils, etc. Try to eat 3 meals consisting of 1 protein serving, 2 carbohydrate servings, and 1 small fat serving. Minimize snacking on sweets try to eat whole foods instead. Its easy, instead of reaching for the Ice cream reach for the apple. Concerning exercise, Don't weight train. Your body is not yet biochemically ready for it. wait until you are about 16. I strongly recomend that you do some aerobic exercising such as walking/jogging, swimming, etc. If you don't feel like doing that just stay active. Here is some really good news for you. In a few years your muscles are going to really start to develope. Certain hormones in your body are going to cause you to really grow strong and lean out. If you watch what you eat by following a balanced diet a large amount of Body Fat WILL be lost. Just remember work hard, be patient, keep trying, and you will meet your goals. Feel free to e-mail me if you want more info on diet/training. Best of luck, John L. Name: John L.
