Title: Atkins Diet I am interested in hearing from anybody that has been on the Atkins Diet for any length of time and I would like to hear about any bloodwork that shows good results after being on this diet for any length of time. Name: Jackie Fuller Date: Feb. 9th, 2000 Title: Re: Atkins Diet I tried it for 3 weeks. Worked well, but found it boring as I'm a vegetarian. Lowcarbcafe.com is a site where you can chat to lots of people who are on this diet. It's a friendly and very supportive site and you should be able to have any question you can think of about low carb diets answered. I've worked in a health food/supplement store for almost a year, and we get many people who have done, or are doing the atkins diet. Don't get me wrong, you can loose weight doing it. But the question is, how healthy is it? I shudder at thinking of eating no carbs for a week or more. Most people have no idea of what that can do to your body. Take for example, the fact that your brain can ONLY use glucose for fuel. Glucose is made from carbs. But like I said, you can loose weight on it, and I know people who have. What I suggest you do is not only read Dr. Atkins' book, but also try to find 3rd party information that is impartial on low carb diets, like studies done by universities, or groups, that are not trying to promote, or disprove anybody.
