Title: Genetics Or Wrong Routine

Hi ,
I am a 22yr old,173lb 5'7 female, my mothers side of my family are very large people and I have a hard time losing weight. I lift three times a week, cardio five and abs along with my cardio routine. Cardio is thirty min of either swimming or treadmill at 4.2mph. My diet consists of an 88gm protein, intake in five meal intervels about 2 1/2 hours apart. I have a two split(arms one day and legs another) on my weight training, I watch my diet don't drink carbonation. Only things I cheat on are Coffee and occasional chocolate. I have been on this for around 7 months now but I am under alot of stress because I am in sales. What more can I do to get back down to a size ten when i am a 14 even with all the work with my dieting?

    Hi Carrie,
You are almost 40lb overweight. Genetics has an important role to play in shaping us, but you can always do something to get into proper shape. Increase your aerobics exercise to six days every week and do it for 45 mins to one hour, try variety like cycling, jogging, walking, swimming, stepper and if possible rowing (in a rowing machine). Weighttraining for three days should involve all the big muscle groups, use light weights and heavy repeatation. Try yoga or stretching on other three days.Drink plenty of water and stop worrying about your weight. Seven months is too short a period to expect any dramatic results. You should aim at doing exercise for the rest of your life, it is not a short term thing to do, it should become a normal part of your life like brushing teeth, bathing, eating etc.

    Title: Wrong Routine

Never eat junk. Double your food intake. Eat just protein 3 times a day and healthy carbs at two other meals. Make sure each meal is 300 calories and work harder in the gym. THats all it takes.

Your exercise routine seems pretty comprehensive, I wouldn't worry about that if I were you. What it seems to me, is that you need to play with your food intake, either upping it a little, or cutting back a little. Your body adapts to it's level of food intake, and adjusts all of your daily activities accordingly. Remember, your body does NOT want to loose weight.. it's energy stored for a rainy day. So if you change your calorie intake every now and then, it helps keep your body off balance, and your metabolism burning.
You also might want to try using a thermogenic... But be VERY CAREFUL when using those types of products.. read up on them, do some research. Also, try reading some bodybuilding magazines.. most of them are meant for men, but women can also pick up some good tips.
