Title: 2 Questions.. Can someone please tell me what exactely carbohydrates are and what foods have them and also, the difference between regular excersize and cardio workouts... What makes up a cardio work out? What cardio workouts should I be doing? Is there a great workout video that you could point me to that I could watch, like Denise Austin or someone like that? Thanks..:):) Name: Amanda Date: Aug. 2nd, 2002 Title: Re: 2 Questions.. Carbohydrates are what supplies your body with the energy to function all day. There are basically two kinds of carbs. Complex carbohydrates (such as bread, pasta, potatos) give you energy in the longer term (after about 2 or 3 hours of being consumed). Simple carbs. (such as sugars, fruits, etc.)provide your body with short-term energy. It causes your blood sugar levels to rise quickly, & then drop shortly after. Be careful with how many carbs you take in. Carbs stimulate the production of insulin (a hormone) in your pancreas. Any excess carbs that is not used as energy will be stored as fat in your body. Cardio is any exercise that increases your heart rate. Examples include, rollerblading, walking, running, jogging, biking, stairmaster, etc. I'm not sure what you mean by regular exercise. Exercise can include cardio, weight lifting, aerobics classes/videos, etc. In essence, its anything that conditions your body. I don't use workout videos so I can't suggest a good one. I've heard Tae Bo is pretty good. Name: Christina Date: Aug. 2nd, 2002 Title: Re: 2 Questions.. The best workout videos that I have seen are The Firm w/weights. Time Life makes them. They cover every muscle you have and the ones you didn't think you had and there are different levels so you can cross train with these tapes. I think there is a total of about 6-7 tapes and they run about $10 each. Good Luck!! Christina wrote: > Carbohydrates are what supplies your body with the energy to function all day.
