    Title: Weight Watchers

    Hi Summer!

I have a friend who is currently enrolled in the Weight Watchers point system.

She is losing weight, but my concern is that she's not exercising enough or forming the right healthy lifestyle choices that will last over the long term.

I'm afraid that when she reaches her goal weight, she won't know what to do about making the choices she needs so as to not gain it back.

Actually, the Weight Watchers program does show some results. I know a woman who lost 60 pounds in a year on the program (without exercise) and one who has lost 8 pounds in 2 months (with exercise). The only problem with the program is that they go by weight, and not bodyfat percentage. Bodyfat percentage is a better indicator of health than weight is. People with a lower bodyfat percentage, regardless of weight, also tend to be have asthetically pleasing physiques.
I also agree with the Patti's statement that you should exercise too. If you follow the weight watchers plan and exercise you shold see some pretty good results. But make sure you are getting the nutrients you need. Good luck.

I joined weight watchers 8 weeks ago and am still on it.
I've lost 6 pounds so far and there are some really good things I like about the program. First of all, when I started I didn't realize how much food I was used to eating-I like the fact that they stress portion control. I feel better eating smaller portions of meat and adding more veggies and fruits to my meals. The program lets you eat whatever you want, but be prepared to give up pizza and beer or you're going to starve. Also the meetings can help you a lot if you need support in changing the way you think about food, like not eating to comfort yourself ect. It's also nice to watch other people in the meetings reach their goals because you know you can do it to. If you need support and help with the way you think about food this program is good, but you have to stick with it and excercise.

The weight watchers program is really good... I do not know what you are talking about with the exercise. The weight watchers program includes Exercise they require it to work properly. And also, weight watchers is supposed to turn into a life long diet not a diet to use untill you lose the weight. It's a program that teaches you how to eat properly where you lose weight and control it.
