Title: Carbs? Does anyone know how to figure out what your carb intake should be? I tend to lose more body fat when I lower my carb intake, but I also want to be healthy and not deprive myself of the amount that my body needs. Suggestions? Name: Deborah Date: Apr. 2nd, 2002 Title: Re: Carbs? You do not need excessive amounts of carbs to function. You tend to lose more bodyfat when you lower carbs because lowering carbs is the best way to lose bodyfat. When I go from eatting to muscle build to eatting to lose bodyfat, I typically just lower the amount of carbs. It will not harm you in anyway. Typical ratio's I like to use when losing bodyfat are 40c/30p/30f. Or 50c/30p/20f. Sometimes I even go as low as 33c/33p/33f. Remember a balanced diet is the best way to go. Just as you can't deprive your body of carbs, you can't deprive them of fats or proteins. Name: Kurt Date: Apr. 2nd, 2002 Title: Re: Carbs? I don't recommend going too low on carbs. Going too low will make you cranky and you won't be able to concentrate/focus as well. I recommend going with a 40/30/30 protein/carb/fat ratio and cutting back on your simple carbs and making sure that the carbs you do eat are complex carbs such as veggies, whole wheat bread etc...
