Title: 100% Whey Protein Questions

I lift weights and do cardio X 4-5 days a week. I went to GNC and wanted something to increase my muscle mass but not add fat. I was directed to their 100% whey protein powder. Was told to have 1G of protein per pound I weigh, so that means I need 150G of protein a day, so I need to take 3 scoops of their powder per day, 21G per scoop is 63G per day plus my regular intake of protein from food should bring me to around 150G. How does this sound to you? But now the problem just noticed is the cholesterol is 23% of my daily Cholesterol intake PER SCOOP! that's 69% of my daily cholesterol coming from just this powder. I already have genetically high cholesterol and shouldnt take that much in. Are there alternative products to help me obtain my goal, i'd be especially happy to find capsules instead of powders

Title: Re: 100% Whey Protein Questions

Each brand will have different amount of cholestorol in them. I just looked on the GNC site and looking at two brands I saw this: Met-RX, 5% daily serving. GNC brand, 15% daily intake.

If you want to continue taking whey, next time you buy one look on the bottle and see what the percent is.

Also remember, whey is a supplment, which means that it supplements a diet. Most people take whey because it is an easy way to increase protein intake. But whey is not necessary for muscle building. You can increase your protein through normal food, like tuna, egg whites, fish, etc.
