Title: Advice Needed, Please..:)

Hello. I've read through a few pages worth of posts. Lots of great questions and information!

I'm a 31 y.o. female, 5 foot 6, 250*gulp* lbs. I have three children and I have long ago lost the horrible excuse that it is post-pregnancy weight. Besides, I never got over 180 lbs with my pregnancies. I have somehow gained 70 lbs in the last 4 years. I know it is from doing nothing, but sitting on my butt and eating.

I don't have any other health problems besides being fat. At least, not yet, right? My doctor prescribed Xenical (doesn't let 30% of consumed fat be absorbed) a week ago. I am not on a specific diet, because that has always been my downfall. I just watch what I eat now. If I had to guess, I probably don't go over 1200 calories a day most days. Maybe 1-2 days to 1500. Fat grams less than 30 and usually 20ish. Fruit, whole grains, and chicken and turkey....If you want to add any advice here, go ahead. I have seen an RD, too. I know how to eat better. I just haven't been for a loooong time.

Last week I started going to the gym regularly (this is where I need the most advice). I go in the morning and do 30 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical machine(Precor). Aerobics: Monday is Step with tramp and weights. Tuesday is regular Step. Wednesday is Body Sculpting/Toning(using weights and resistance tubes). Thursday is Step again and also Yoga. Friday is Body Sculpting/Toning again.

What else could I be doing? Back when I was in shape, I used to use the Nautilus machines all the time. How often should I fit this in?

I take the weekend off, except for Yoga on Sunday night. I DJ on weekends, and I figured lugging around heavy speakers and sound equipment a few times over the wknd was good enough. LOL

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the length. :)

Hi Piper, The only advice I would give to add to your plan
is drinking water. ALOT of water!! I cannot stress the fact more. It not only fills you up and gets you to eat less it's great for your skin too!! When I started changing my lifestyles as you are doing
I noticed great changes from drinking wxcessive water It helped me shed 60 lbs.
The two WW"S water and walking that was it for me
    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Piper,

Looks like you've got the makings of a successful plan. The trick now is to walk the talk!

Your plan just needs execution and that requires a lot of patience. I myself have been on an exercise program for the last three months now. I was 205 lbs, am 5'10" and was diagnosed to have high cholesterol and hypertensive. I got back to gym in October and have been feeling great since. My personal motivation is get off the cholesterol and blood pressure controlling medication because I do not want to be on maintenance drugs for life.

Thus, you need to find your own personal motivation. The trick is getting over the first 2 to 3 months. Afterwards, you'll see your weight go down, people start to notice progress and your self-esteem goes up. That's is fantastic self-motivation. In a few more months time, you'll reach the goals you've set up from the start.

Just be patient! Good things will take time. If you feel demotivated, ask youself whether you really want to stay heavy. If not, strive harder and find your next motivation point.

    Good luck!
