Animal protein is any protein that comes from an animal. As far as eggs, well, those are basically the nutrients that create a chicken so I would consider it animal protein. Animal protein isn't bad for your heart at all. The misconception you are talking about probably comes from the fact that many sources of animal protein are high in fat as well as protein. If you get the majority of your protein from sources such as chicken, tuna, turkey, and lean beef then you will be fine. But if you get the majority from fast food cheeseburgers or something then maybe you'll have a problem in the long run. Hope this helps.

So in otherwords animal protein is only fattening when it has a lot of fat too, right? So then egg whites aren't bad because they have no fat. Just the yolks do but I never eat them. Thanks so much for you help!

Well, anything can turn to fat if you consume too much of it. But it takes more effort for your body to turn protein into fat than carbohydrates or dietary fat. There's nothing wrong with animal protein. Just make sure the majority of the animal protein you eat is of the leaner variety and you'll be fine.
