Title: 161/100 Blood Pressure - HELP! Hey Everyone, I am somewhat new to this so I am hoping someone out there can help. Recently, when I was at the doctors they took my Blood Pressure and it was 161/100 - stage 2 of hypertension. Now I am 25 years old, but I am 70lbs over weight (240 lbs at 6'2"). Can someone out there help me understand what this all means and how I can change my meal plan in order to eleviate this bloodpressure problem. For a short period in my life I gained lots of weight when my late husband had cancer over a 6 year period. I developed higher blood pressure than yours (185-197/110) and I was in my late forties. I weighed over 300 lbs. Now, 3 1/2 yrs later, and nearly 200 lbs lighter, I have enjoyed excellent health and normal blood pressure (actually an athlete's BP) for over 2 years. I suggest you listen to your doctor;s advice...concerning medications etc but do begin to take your health seriously and do it NOW!!! Only you can alter your healh status. I now work with clients to help them change their lifesyles and health status, whatever the issues, not just weight problems. I also work with athletes and people your age.
