WEIGHT TRAINING AFTER 60 YEARS OF AGEMY FRIEND'S CARDIOLOGIST TOLD HIM THAT MEN OVER 50 YEARS OLD SHOULD NOT ENGAGE IN A STRENUOUS WEIGHT LIFTING/ BODY BUILDING REGIMIN. HE SAYS IT PLAYS HELL WITH SYSTOLIC BLOOD PRESSURE AND GUARANTEES A SHORTENED LIFE SPAN. I'M 60 YS OLD (HAVE BEEN LIFTING FOR 40+ YEARS) AND LIFT THREE TIMES A WEEK -3 SETS @ 8 TO 12 REPS PER BODY PART AND USUALLY AM HUFFING & PUFFNG ON LAST FEW REPS. AM I DOING MYSELF MAJOR HARM ??? SHOULD i STOP AND LIFT VERY LIGHT WEIGTS ??

No, as far as I know, you should not stop.
If you've been doing it for this long, I'm sure it's no big shock to your body... and you have to lift heavy to see results anyway.
For your friend, I'm guessing he's never lifted before in his life. His body most likely would not be prepared for something like that, where as yours is used to it...
Although this is just my opinion... and I'm no expert. You may want to consult some other personal trainers on this one as well, besides the one who told you it was bad.

I'm 58 ans I weight train and it makes me feel great. Ifyou are sensible about it I don't think there is any harm. I think the Dr. is stupid. I work with Drs and I know a lot of them that are.
