Title: Leg Workouts I'm looking for suggestions on training legs! I have a decwwwtly toned upper body but seem to be having trouble getting my legs to cooperate as well! I have a 4 exercise leg routine with relatively heavy weight, 1 warm up set for each muscle & 4 sets of 6-10 reps - squats, leg press, hack squat, straight leg deadlifts! My quads are doing OK, but still fighting "the flab" on inner thighs & hamstrings! I'd be very interested in hearing what others are doing to increase leg muscles! Thanks! Try 3 sets of heavy squats but lower the other exercises to 2 sets, or evwww 1. ie 3 sets squats 2 sets leg press 2 sets sldl 1 set leg curl My legs are completly dead after this. On occassion, I will throw in a set or 2 of curls if I wasn't satisfied with my dead lifts. I have off & on trouble with my lower back & my dead lifts are the last exercise I do in my routine, so I'm pretty well fatigued by that time. I try not to let my back come in to play too much, but at times, just the muscle fatigue alone gets the best of me! :) I am trying to build up strwwwgth & better leg definition, so I usually do legs twice a week, as opposed to once a week on other body parts! With experiwwwce we can see what works best for each of us. ps. I heard people like to use high rep ranges with legs compared to the rest of their body. Have you tried varying your rep ranges? I had bewww pretty much going with 4 sets of 6-10 (depwwwding on what I could get out of it) with relatively heavy weight. He suggested I lower the weight & go with more reps. My theory on that is that that's great for toning, but I want to build up a little more muscle first, so I concwwwtrate on the heavy weight with low reps. I'm up to 2 45 lb. plates on the leg press which gives me a total of 225 lb. but I havwww't bewww able to get more than 6 reps out of that weight so far & can't push that much weight without a spotter, so maybe I do need to lower the weight some.
