Title: More Weight Vs. More Reps??

I have been weight training for about 9 mo. I have always had a strong upper body...but through lifting I don't want to get bulky - I want to be CUT and trim down. What is the best way for a woman to acheive this? More weight vs. less weight-more reps?
I do 20 lb dumb bell arm curls now and am afraid of inc. the weight. Thanks!!

You wont get anywhere without increasing the weight! You prettymuch have to. Less reps, more weight. About 10 reps is enough, but the weight should be something that you struggle to lift that many times. If you're tired after about 10 reps, you're in the right area. Dont worry about getting bulky! Getting larger muscles helps you lose weight, because more muscle mass = higher metabolism, which is how much energy your body burns while it's not even doing anything. Getting a high metabolism will help you keep fit forever! Ever notice some people back in the "school days" were all skinny, but are now waaay out of shape? That's because they were born with a high metabolism, and their metabolism dropped as they got older, and since they werent in a routine of exercising, they quickly fell out of shape. Having a high metabolism early on and keeping it is the only way to keep fit for the rest of your life. So dont worry about bulkiness, that doesnt happen very often, workout with weights about 3 times a week, alternating what muscles you exercise, high weight low reps, and some cardio (running, jogging, biking, sports, etc) about 3 times a week as well.

OK. you want to trim down. do not use more wieght! if you do your muscles will get bigger, go figure. i would use a little less weight and more reps. i will not give you a number, just increase your current reps. to stay cut you will need to run or do some kind of cardio. of course everyone is different but that is what works for me.
