Title: Getting Rid Of Fat Around The Stomach And Hips

I'm 18 years old, 6 foot 4 or so... broad frame and weigh 260lbs. The majority of my fat is located around my stomach and hip area, and it's annoying. I have worked out off and on for a couple of years by weight training, but i can't seem to firm up my problem areas. What can i do to firm up my problem areas?

any help will be much appreciated!
thanx

    Hi!

I'm in no way an expert in this field, but from what I've gathered from reading health-magazines you simply cannot focus on fat-burning in a special area. When the body feels that it is low on energy, it will consume fat from all over the body. Exercising a special area of your body will improve that areas muscles, but not burn fat more intensly.

To burn fat, you need to perform fat-burning exercises. Spinning or aerobic are two which are performed in group and are therefore more "fun" to do.

Be wary not to loose weight too quickly, even though it might feel and look great, your body needs to adapt to the "new you". And this might take from weeks to months depending on yourself.

    Hope any of this helped.

    Best regards,

    Martin

You can't spot reduce a site at which you hold on to some of your fat. Where you retain fat is genetic. So how do you lose it? A balanced diet is a part of it. But it is only one part. You need to exercise in a fat-burning zone (where your heart rate is 65 to 85 percent of your maximum heart rate) for 30 minutes at least three times a week. Keep in mind that 30 minutes does not include warm up or cool down.

Yep, I agree... diet and exercise (both areobics and weight training)... and consistancy - it takes time

What is the 'ideal rate'? - it does vary - but I think it is about 1-2 lbs per week... slow and easy works better - and has a more permanant effect - lifestyle change - eating habits... hang in there long enough and you can make it!
