If you go to GNC, they usually sell protein poweders, which already has protein and minerals you need for your body to build a strong muschle. etc. Usually, my friends mix it with Kool-Aid or with some kind of juice. I know some peole do not like the taste of pre-maid protein shake at the health store. However the protein powders does not taste anything( Unless you mix it with water) so it might be convinient. I don't know it my advice was something you were looking for or not. When you said homemade protein shake, were you specifically looking for a recipe including vegetables, etc?

I take Twinlab Vanilla RXFuel which has 40 g of protein, no fat and is only 250 calories and use it in a blender with water. It is absolutely delicius! You need a blender for it though. I wouldn't recommend the chocolate flavor though as its not 1/4 as good. I order it by bulk by mailorder and it is very relatively cheap.
