Title:
Muscle Vs Weight GainI've been working out with weights for about 5 months, I started working out with weights after loosing 80lbs, to try and maintain by weight loss. Everyone says muscles weigh more than fat, I feel great and my muscles are getting nice and firm, but I keep gaining weight. How much weight could you gain from building muscles?

You need to find some way to measure or estimate your body fat percentage to determine if the weight you are gaining is muscle or fat. The best way to measure body composition is th eimersion method, but that requires a room full of expensive equipment. There are caliper devices that are inexpensive and can give a pretty good estimate if enough readings are taken. There are also some scales that estimate body composition from skin resistance measurements. OR you can just look in the mirror and if you like what you see, forget about the scales. The only problem with that is we tend to interpret what we see in the mirror incorrectly. At its worst extreme an aneorexic sees a fat person in the mirror when they are actually painfully thin. A tape measure is an inexpensive, unbiased way to measure as well, but can not distiguish fat gain form muscle gains.
