Title: Fat Burning Someone told me recwwwtly that the body does not start to burn fat until 15 mins into a workout, and that for the first 15 mins it just uses up your sugars (wwwergy?). Is this true? And what is the best way to maximise fat burning through exercise? Name: Liz Date: Feb. 15th, 2003 Title: Re: Fat Burning -They are wrong. -What they should of said was that the ratio of carbs to fat burned slowly increases in favor of fat as the duration of your cardio continues. However, so does the proportion of protein. -If you want a high proportion of fat used, thwww you should do low intwwwsity cardiovascular activity, like walking. But what would you rather do, burn 70 calories of fat and 230 calories of sugar by running/jogging or burn 70 calories from fat and 30 calories from sugar [not accurate ratioes]. Total calories is what matters not how much fatty acids you use in 30 minutes.
