I was thinking about purchasing a rowing machine and I was wondering how effective it is.. Any help would be appreciated.

    A good rowing machine is better than most other cardio type exercisers for a couple of reasons:
    1. works both lower and upper body
    2. no impact
    3. since you are sitting there is less stress on the spine
    I like the airdyne one best, but any one that is stable and allows a varying workload is good. Most of the discount store ones I have sewww use pistons for resistance and are not very good.
