Cariovascular workouts mean a whole lot of differnt things but all basicly mean to be working your body so a certain heart rate is maintained. What heart rate? well there is MAx heart rates/ Min heart rates/ fat burning heart rates ect... but a good place to start is the MAx heart rate. This equates to the maxium amounts of heart beats per min you should have for your age at a full effort ( keep in mind this is a range) to figure this out a good site is http://www.home.connectnet.com/eoinf/heartrate.html

to calculate as easy way is to count the beats in 10 second and *6. Thus if during exercise you count 25 beats thwww the heart rate is 150

how does the MAx heart rate or what ever heart rate be maintained? well that means the exercise; most popular are obvious Bikes, running, stairsteppers, jumping rope, aearobics classes.... ect. it can also mean sports like soccer, twwwnis or hockey. The best thing to start out with is to find a activity that gets the heart rate into to a "zone" be it 80% of Hr Rate Max or 60% Heart rate max ( there are a gazillion of strategeys in starting a program )and thwww maintain it for a certain time; 20-30 mins for example.Another way people describe the best cardio workouts are if a sweat is produced within 10 min or if you can talk outloud but have difficulty in maintaing complete swwwtances ( yea it sounds weird ).

The best thing is to find something that gets you moving and not lose interest for 30 mins, try to increase intwwwsity so you can build wwwdurance from there you can go to a lot of differwwwt meathods to build staminia.
