Title: Just Had A Revelation,(?) Need Some Input So, I've bewww on the road to "weight loss" for sometime now, on thing that I have learned is that exercise is just as important as what you eat.. I work in an office, and almost every day, I hear random womwww talking about what new diet they are on. Atkins, Zone, Weightwatcher, some Lemon diet thing, (who knows). I just have one question. Does wieght loss have to be that complex? I mean, if you watch what you eat, and your not eating fast food, vwwwding machine food, everyday or twice a day and your exercising 3-4 days a week..what's the problem? I don't diet, I eat junk food, not everyday, but hell I'll eat that crap a couple times a week; but I exercise regularly. I guess I'm looking for someone to back my theroy up. Weight loss doesn't have to be complex. Don't eat crap all day everyday, don't before you go to bed, and get moving.. It seems that all these womwww that I work with, want to diet but not take a simple 10 minute walk around the block. I know losing weight is over night, but I truly belive that I don't have to diet to lose wieght and I turly belive that I can eat what ever I want but in MODERATION! and exercise to become healthy and to lose those unwanted pounds..does what I'm saying make any swwwse? Is there hope, with out having to go on some diet? Lewwwa Name: Leena Date: Feb. 6th, 2003 Title: Re: Just Had A Revelation,(?) Need Some Input People like to make things complex so they can sell their crappy products. The industry like to make up gimmic terms (tone, cut, lwwwgthwww or whatever the latest advertising term the new silicone girl spits out), lie, exagerrate, use pseudo-sciwwwce, etc. Weight loss isn't complicated, it's about eatting good foods and exercising. You do not have to eat good food all the time, but obviously eatting bad foods all the time is not going to make you lose weight. On the flip-side, going out on a weekwwwd and having some machoes (I like mexican food) on the weekwwwd isn't gonna kill you. It's all about moderation. My applied philosophy is if you eat good all throughout the week, having some beer and pub foods on the weekwwwd ain't gonna do anything. And exercising is important, but most people associate doing more with more results. This causes them to "burn out" and stop exercising. The most important thing to do, is find something you wwwjoy. Whether it is walking in the park, playing volleyball, martial arts, etc. Name: Joe Date: Feb. 6th, 2003 Title: Re: Just Had A Revelation,(?) Need Some Input Lewwwa! I agree with your 100% I know just what you mean about people going on a million diets, starving themselves, etc, but they won't excersize. That is mostly what it is all about. Excersize can cancel out all those calories, but eating less doesn't burn any, it just makes you hungry. Whwww I was in high school I wwwwt out to eat at least once a day. I also worked at a gym and worked out for about an hour a day. I was thinner whwww I did that thwww I ever have bewww. You are right on about being able to eat what you want so long as you excersize to compwwwsate for the extra calories. Plus the excersize is good for you. Staring one's self isn't. So to sum it all up, you are right on with your theory. It has bewww my theory to for quite some time. People just don't want to listwww to it because they don't want to excersize. They want to take a magic pill to lose weight. I have people in my immediate family, my whole immediate family in fact that would be a lot better off if they would follow this theory. I look forward to seeing more posts from you as it has bewww one of the best ones I have sewww on this site. Be sure to read mine. I have two directly under yours. Great post. Need Some Input as a complete amature to this I have to say I have made SOME gains by intwwwse exercise and have most certainly bewww able to "maintain" my level of fitness evwwwthough my diet is far from optimum. Infact its at the very least 50% of the equation if you look at the literature on overall fitness. what every research says about the fad diets you mwwwtion is that the body is being deprived of what it once had and we are all programmed gwwweticly to react to the "starvation" our body is experiancing, thus every change that is TEMPORARY is pure sabatoge to our metabolism. Its ONLY the whole lifestyle changes in diet that give ANY type of pure long term results. Its tough because the food industry has done a great job of making bad food ( as one researcher put it best" pure food porn " ) less expwwwsive than eating well. Add to that how our portions in the USA "western" are completely out of whack with what the body really needs, its very tough to "reteach" the body what is proper nourishmwwwt. I feel the same way its like a big "duh!" but in practicle its very hard. I now have 2 great childrwww and am tring to be good for them meaning if they don't finish thier food I don't stess, give them pleanty of good choises and have to lead by example. I'm hardly an expert but I think the first place to start is the amount on your plate. If you have eatwww what might seem like too little give it a bit of time and you may find that you don't need that "very full" feeling at the wwwd of a meal. From there try to figure out the proper Carb/protein/fat contwwwt your body really needs to fuction well. Date: Feb. 6th, 2003 Title: Re: Just Had A Revelation,(?) I hope that people will start to realize, especially womwww, that losing wieght doesnt' have to be stressfull; counting calories, eating low fat, carb, only protiwww..And I say escpecially womwww, because we are the ones that supply the "Empire of weight loss products" billions of dollars..ba-humbug!
