Title: Is It Bad To Work Abs Everyday?

hi. is it bad to work the abs everyday? or everytime i get bored? i run daily 2 miles but not all at once i run a mile in the begining of my work out and a mile when i'm done with everything else. i use ab machines at the gym and do crunches at the gym and when im at home.... so u think if i maintain this ill eventually lose my gut?... thats all im shooting for right now.... oh yah i'm not eating fast food anymore.. so i hope that helps... reply back thanx..

    Dear ABBY all the fitness mags say you cant over work the abs but watch your back. Keep it balanced. Do back exercises as well and dont forget the leg raises. Diet is half the battle you can do all the ab exercises you want but if you dont balance the diet you wont expose the 6 pack. GOOD LUCK.

    You could train them everyday. You could train every muscle group everyday as well. The question is what will provide the best results. I would train abs 2x a week at the most. I currently only do 3 sets for abs, once a week.

    If you want to lose the surrounding fat, then you have to eat properly and do cardio.

    You can work yoyr abs everyday, IF YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR TIME. You only need to work abs 2-3 Xs a week. Just like every other muscle in your body they need rest. Muscle's are responding to your work out after the fact if you continue to work your abs all the time you are not giving them a chance to properley respond. Besides if you can do all those crunches all the time you have got to be doing something wrong you should work them to fatigue. Try doing a cruch, make sure your lower back is pressed to the floor and you should not even be able to place a piece of paper between your back and the floor. Just Remember it is the Quality not the Quanity

    Now that we are on the subject of abs what effective ab exercises are there in the upright standing mode? What is the story on those captain chairs in the gym where you pull your knees up to the chest? Are these good for firming the midsection along with proper diet??
