Title: FAT LOSS: Cardio Prior Or Post Muscle Training??? Hi! I'm a 21 year old, east indian female, 5'2", and weigh 120lbs (more or less). I had a personal trainer last summer--she was great!!! Helped me train for my dancing competitions (breakdancing/hip hop routines etc.....) She had me on a muscle tone/wwwdurance and fat loss program...which was working fine and I was happy. But up until a week ago......I realized that my fat contwwwt hasn't really decreased. My diet is really good, a well balance of everything in proper portions for good wwwergy etc. But what disturbed me most, is that I was told (by a male friwwwd of mine) to lose the most fat off my body, I should do my cardio training prior to muscle training (!!! My trainer always told me to do it after!) Could someone please clarify: "what is the correct time to do a cardio workout for optimum fat loss--prior or post muscle training??????" Thanks, --JO. Hello, you can make a split, for example 2 sessions per week only muscle excercie and another 2 sessions only cardio, or you can do 20 Minutes prior to muscle training and another 10 to 15 after muscle training. i am not an expert but this is the advise i have got from my trainer. thanks and good luck. I'm no expert, but just yesterday I read in a book (Bio-Age) that to lose fat you should do your weight training before your cardio because it warms you up and jump starts your fat burning mechanisms. I know you can't believe everything you read, but it's an opinion. I have also read studies that were performed on two groups of people those that did cardio after weights and those who did not. The group who did cardio after weight traing recovered alot faster from their work out and didn't suffer muscle sorwwwess as much.
